The Deluxe Experience is the most immersive way to see Somoto Canyon, transforming your trip into a two-day adventure that combines the challenging 6-Hour Grand Adventure with cultural immersion and breathtaking views.

This comprehensive package starts with the full 6-hour canyoning tour, followed by an overnight stay in a local cabana. The next day, you complete your journey with a spectacular hike or horseback ride along the canyon rim, viewing the Río Coco from 200 meters above!

Important Notice: This tour runs every day. Guests must catch the early 7:30 AM bus from Estelí to the Somoto Bus Terminal on their own. Our local team will meet you directly at the Somoto terminal, where your included transportation will take you to the trailhead to begin your adventure.

What to expect on Somoto Canyon Deluxe? 

This package offers a full spectrum of experiences, from intense water adventure to tranquil scenery and genuine local life.

Day 1: Full canyon immersion

You begin with the thrilling 6-Hour Grand Adventure Tour. You'll explore the full 14km route, including the Rio Tapacali, the fruit bat caves and a natural swimming pool in the headwaters of the Rio Coco. You will be provided with a light snack and a full lunch, concluding the most challenging part of your journey.

Overnight local immersion

After your canyoning adventure, you will check into our small, local cabana accommodation. This is an economical way to stretch your visit. Meals (dinner, breakfast, and  lunch) are taken on the terrace of the adjoining family house. You are encouraged to participate in the activities of a busy homestead, experiencing the authentic community life of Somoto.

Day 2: The canyon rim views

The next morning, embark on a 3–5 hour journey through the back country and along the high canyon rim. This route provides fantastic views from 200 meters above the Río Coco, offering amazing photo opportunities and the chance to appreciate the geological wonder and the local flora and fauna. You can choose a substantial hike or opt for a pleasurable horse ride (crossing the Rio Coco twice and passing neighboring farms). We do definitely recommend the horse ride!

How is the total cost calculated?

The $80 USD covers the grand tour and the horseback activity. Accommodation and additional meals (dinner/breakfast/lunch) are also included in total amount.

Is the accommodation private?

The accommodation is provided in small, local cabanas with basic amenities. It is a humble, authentic stay designed to enhance the local experience.

Do I need riding experience?

Basic experience is recommended for a pleasurable horseback ride. If you have no experience, we can provide you with a line led horse, no problemo! 

What about the bus from Esteli to Somoto?

Yes. You are required to catch the 7:30 AM bus from Estelí (Cotran Norte Terminal) to the Somoto Bus Terminal on your own. We ensure return transportation to the Somoto terminal from the trailhead to catch a return bus to Esteli.

What gear is provided?

We provide all mandatory safety equipment: a life jacket, a waterproof dry bag for your essentials, and proper river shoes.
